Legal and Compliance HK, Technology and Intellectual Property Lawyer, Vice President - Hong Kong

Description

A global financial services firm, wishes to recruit a solicitor to join its Technology, Intellectual Property and E-Commerce Law Group within the Legal and Compliance Division. The role will be based in Hong Kong.



The Technology, Intellectual Property and E-Commerce Law Group is a global group with lawyers based in New York, London and Singapore. The group supports various business units across the Firm in many jurisdictions, including, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Australia, China, Taiwan and South Korea. The Global Head is based out of New York, but the role would report to the Asia Head based out of Singapore.
Responsibilities

The candidate will assist the Asia Head on various coverage matters, with primary focus on Technology Procurement working with the Firm’s Asia Technology Sourcing Team.
Requirements

Skills Required:

* Full range of technology related transactions including: hardware purchasing; software licensing; market data licensing; network services; consultancy; hosting and facilities management; and outsourcing, etc;
* Thorough knowledge of intellectual property laws including: trademarks, copyright, patents and know how;
* Understanding of the range of legal issues implicated in e-commerce matters including: website development, hyper-linking, framing, content delivery;
* Data protection/privacy laws and regulations (e.g. Japan PIPL) in particular relating to cross-border transfers;
* Languages: Fluent in English (written and spoken) (required) and Chinese (written and spoken (preferred);
* The appropriate candidate must have a minimum of 5 years PQE; and
* Immediate availability is an advantage.

Personal Qualities:

* Personal qualities for working in the Legal and Compliance Division are split into general requirements (intelligence, motivation, organization, ability to work under pressure, adaptability etc.) and those specific to this particular role (legal knowledge, commercial approach, ability to work as part of a team and also independently when required, ability to build strong relationships with internal clients etc.).
