Looking for Director - Policy, China and Investment Products

The Commission is looking for a high calibre candidate to fill the above position in our Policy, China and Investment Products Division. This is an excellent career opportunity for you to take up the challenge of leading projects and formulating policy initiatives in enhancing the regulatory framework for investment products, developing Hong Kong as a financial centre and fostering a close co-operation between the Hong Kong and Mainland markets.

Responsibilities

* You will report to the Division's senior management and be responsible for preparing policy recommendations and research reports for market development and drafting consultation papers regarding regulatory issues and relevant legislative provisions. You will also be playing a key role in conducting cross-agency dialogue on market and product-related issues and in lobbying various levels of stakeholders for support of the Commission's policy initiatives.
* You will be part of a niche team and you will take a lead in analysing regulatory and market development of various leading financial centres and the Mainland market and in recommending appropriate policy responses towards any impact that such development may bring to the Hong Kong market. You should have an extensive network with a wide range of stakeholders including industry practitioners and be able to establish working relationship and rapport with senior market professionals and officials at regulatory bodies and agencies.

Requirements

To be successful in this position, you must have a University degree and professional qualification (if applicable) in Law/Finance/Economics together with extensive and substantial work experience in the financial services sector. You are expected to possess in-depth and working knowledge of the securities regulation, market structure and practices of both Hong Kong and other major markets including the Mainland market. While the candidate is expected to come from a strong market background with first-hand work experience gained in an international financial institution, he/she should also have direct and practical experience in dealing with senior officials/securities or financial regulators at the regional/global level and be well-versed with operations in a regulatory environment.
