The Shanghai office
Our office is located in the newly opened Bund Center, a 50-storey complex comprising an office tower, hotel, and apartments. It is one of Shanghai’s largest and most modern integrated developments and is adjacent to the elegant waterfront Bund area. This central location provides easy access to the commercial districts and shopping havens of Puxi and the flourishing financial enclave of Pudong, the two main districts of this bustling city.
Practice area/ Department
The mainland China-based dispute resolution practice provides domestic and overseas clients with access to international disputes capability in China. Clients include a broad cross-section of international corporates, banks and other financial institutions operating in China.
Responsibilities
The Role
The role is to work on a broad range of dispute resolution matters (including international and domestic arbitration, litigation management and contentious regulatory)
Requirements
Qualifications required
* 3+ years post qualification experience within the litigation practice of a top tier firm
* Significant hands on transactional experience
* A legal qualification obtained in Hong Kong, UK or the equivalent (qualification in the PRC a bonus)
* Fluent written and spoken English and Chinese (Putonghua) is required
Work based competencies
We would expect the successful candidate to have a minimum of 3 years experience in private practise

* Legal ability - detailed grasp of complex legal concepts, excellent drafting skills, ability to see issues from a commercial perspective and able to communicate complex legal advice to clients effectively
* Delivering excellent client service - excellent communications skills, driven to deliver to clients promptly, sets themselves challenging goals and resilient in achieving them

* Finding and winning - able to build relationships with clients, identifies opportunities and networks effectively internally
* Practice/firm promotion - acts as an ambassador for the firm, writes technical articles for publication
* Developing and retaining - works to become a trusted advisor to the client, aware of client industry dynamics, works closely with the Business Development Team
