Legal and Compliance HK, COO Office, Administration and Projects Officer, Vice President

The role of an Administration and Projects Officer involves sharing the Chief Operations Officer(COO)'s role in relation to managing the division, take on special projects relating to Legal and Compliance work, and be a deputy in all Legal and Compliance matters, interfacing with New York, other business units and infrastructure groups.



Specific examples of tasks will include:



I. COO Office

- Manage administration work related to Legal and Compliance Division (200 headcount across Asia)

- Supervise finances, budgets, entitlements and authorizations for all employees

- Interact with IT, Corporate Services and Finance as providers of services to LCD

- Review and authorize expenditures, equipment and space requisitions, training and other expense-related items

- Provide oversight for analysts working within LCD COO’s office



II. Compliance Work

- Lead Compliance coverage for infrastructure groups (Operations and IT)

- Work with Global Core Compliance function to act as a representative for Asia Compliance, coordinating on global policy changes, initiatives and requirements

- Coordinate and supervise regional Compliance initiatives, e.g. on metrics, process changes and impact of regulatory changes



III. Special Projects

- Lead on special projects at a Firmwide and Divisional level, to coordinate Legal and Compliance Division’s resources and response

- Support LCD Asia’s senior management in development of strategy and management of the Division

- Be a key contributor to strategic discussions and initiatives within LCD

- Produce high quality deliverables which can define, communicate and train on policies and requirements
Requirements

Skills Required:

- Project management skills in complex projects, including those involving IT

- Ability to handle a broad portfolio of tasks and projects, tackling all to a high standard of detail and professionalism

- Strong interpersonal skills which can be used to form strong relationships with senior managers, peers and subordinates

- Good analytical and reasoning skills to sift information and solve problems

- Sound judgment in assessing and responding to issues

- Ability to communicate issues, proposals and complex situations in written and spoken form, to a range of audiences



Candidate Background:

- The right candidate will have a professional and polished approach and be a high performer in their field

- A background in banking or financial services is important

- Skills and an approach typically found in banking or consultancy will be important

- The right candidate may seek to broaden their current role or transition into a role in Legal and Compliance. This role provides a good platform to gain a breadth of experience and exposure at a senior level in a major investment bank

- The role is at an Officer level and a high-performing candidate could expect to move to a more senior and/or specialist role in the Division or elsewhere in the Firm in due course
