Description
Provide support to 2 separate business divisions in technology distribution with presence in 12 countries and combined annual sales revenue of more than US$3.5B.
Reports to Director of Contracts, Asia-Pacific (based in Beijing).
Responsibilities
Contract Review: Responsible for reviewing a full range of customer and supplier contracts utilizing customer, supplier and/or Avnet standard form terms and conditions, and related agreements such as non-disclosure agreements.
Risk Analysis and Advice: Provides guidance and advice to Sales, Operations and Management and liaises with other corporate functions, as to company preferential contractual terms. Identifies commercial, operational and legal risks and advises how to resolve, mitigate or manage those risks.
Contract Negotiations: Leads contract negotiations with customers and suppliers.
Policy Development and Implementation: Responsible for developing and improving supplier and customer contract templates, contracting policies, risk analysis forms and risk approval matrices to ensure consistent application in the review and negotiation of contracts. Identifies improvement opportunities in existing contract management structure.
Training: Conducts contracts training for Sales, Marketing and Operations personnel.
Requirements
Qualification: Degree in Law.
Experience: At least 5 to 7 years prior experience in a law firm or in-house legal/contracts department reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts. Industry experience in electronics and/or distribution highly desired.
Language ability: Spoken and written English and Chinese.
Skill Requirements
Commercial Law: Understanding of business law, contract law, laws and regulations with respect to the sale of goods and related legal concepts, in a cross-jurisdictional context, including practical application in a business environment.
Analytical Skill and Attention to Details: Exceptional analytical skills (particularly as to legal terminology and contractual provisions), and close and consistent attention to details.
Negotiation Skills: Advanced level negotiation competency.
Organizational Ability and Independence: Highly developed organizational ability and time management skills. Able to operate independently and effectively in high-pressure, tight-deadline situations.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills (including presentation skills) and excellent interpersonal skills within a multinational organization and multicultural environment.
Customer Service and Teamwork: Strong commitment to customer service and ability to work well in a team oriented environment.
