Hong Kong - IT Coordinator, Asia

Coordinates all Information Technology (IT) projects, implementations, support, training and maintenance for all Asian offices, under the guidance and supervision of the Regional IT Manager. Responsibilities

Primary
• Report to Senior Manager, Regional IT
• Responsible for Asian IT hardware, software, support and maintenance contract administration and service levels, including assisting with negotiation of contract provisions, interface with attorneys and maintenance of the appropriate documentation. Works with our firm wide Asset Management Coordinator in the execution of these assigned tasks. Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software and technical services to assure adherence to technical specifications and firm wide standards

• Under general direction, provides technical assistance to facilitate planning and directing the design, installation, modification and operation of W&S information systems capabilities

• Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves second level (Tier II) computer software and or hardware problems. These include, but are not limited to, word processing , document management, e-mail, Internet access, faxing, remote network connectivity, printing, etc.
• Provides, recommends, installs and supports software specific solutions to meet or exceed Asian business requirements
• Isolates re-occurring technical or training issues in order to proactively address attorney and staff problems

• Provides support and direction to IT staff in all Asian offices and overall general direction and guidance to firm wide IT project management personnel.

Secondary

Requirements

• Degree in computer science, information technology or related disciplines

Responsible for all Asian IT operational activities, including support center calls, desk-side support, training efforts as well as assisting with coordinating system engineering, software development efforts and roll-out schedules. This position is empowered to ensure attorney and staff technology satisfaction with all levels service provided by IT.
Responsibilities

Primary
• Report to Senior Manager, Regional IT
• Responsible for Asian IT hardware, software, support and maintenance contract administration and service levels, including assisting with negotiation of contract provisions, interface with attorneys and maintenance of the appropriate documentation. Works with our firm wide Asset Management Coordinator in the execution of these assigned tasks. Evaluates vendor proposals for purchases of hardware, software and technical services to assure adherence to technical specifications and firm wide standards
• Assists with firm wide IT policy development and is responsible for adherence to local and firm wide IT policies
• Under general direction, provides technical assistance to facilitate planning and directing the design, installation, modification and operation of W&S information systems capabilities
• Assesses, identifies and coordinates IT technical support, training, engineering, software and development requirements. Ensures consistency in technical support, training, administration and engineering across all Asian offices
• Monitors service levels and attorney/staff satisfaction through tracking software and reports. Ensures customer satisfaction by reviewing and performing follow-up actions (using e-mail and /or telephone calls) regarding open and closed trouble tickets
• Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves second level (Tier II) computer software and or hardware problems. These include, but are not limited to, word processing , document management, e-mail, Internet access, faxing, remote network connectivity, printing, etc.
• Provides, recommends, installs and supports software specific solutions to meet or exceed Asian business requirements
• Isolates re-occurring technical or training issues in order to proactively address attorney and staff problems
• Assists the appropriate subject matter experts responsible for the following Asian office components: data center, database management, network security, training and technical support
• Provides support and direction to IT staff in all Asian offices and overall general direction and guidance to firm wide IT project management personnel.
• Provides weekend and after hour pager support as required
Secondary
• Conducts quality assurance tasks on new applications, document templates, and technology-driven training titles including system, usability, and functional testing Work with various project teams to resolve issues identified in the quality assurance process
• Attends IT / Regional management team meetings in order to facilitate communication, technical support, training, administration and engineering regarding software, hardware, and firm wide rollouts
• Attends weekly one-on-one status meetings with Regional IT Manager
• Ability to multi-task in order to handle training and trouble ticket requests along with project work (computer roll-outs, hardware upgrades, new desktop configurations, etc.)
• Prevents loss of attorney and staff functionality and productivity by conducting regular visits to Asian offices, to coordinate and assist with the maintenance on workstations, servers, network infrastructure etc
• Assists IT management with the design, development and maintenance of software applications and in-house programs on all computer platforms
• Uses and is familiar with all computer systems manuals and procedures. Update and customize Asian and technical support and training manuals as needed
• Maintains knowledge of law firm IT practices, applications and support trends
Requirements

• Degree in computer science, information technology or related disciplines
• Experience working with and supporting MS Office 2007 required
• Experience with Network Administration in a Windows environment required.
• PC/Server hardware support required
• Strong working knowledge of firm’s operating systems, software and hardware.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Minimum 3-6 years experiences with 1 -2 years of supervisory experience required
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise staff, coordinate technology implementations
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Ability to solve problems by gathering facts and applying general procedures and working with subject matter experts advise on complex matters which may require significant interpretation
• Excellent oral and/or written communication skills to communicate with all levels of attorneys and staffs in English, Cantonese and Mandarin
• Ability to travel to all Asian offices on short notice
